Private Lessons
For those who want individual instruction, have an aggressive, or have an
excessively hyper dog, or have special training needs, one-on-one training is available. Basic
obedience work is taught as well as appropriate problem solving. A minimum of 6 lessons are required.
Each lesson lasts approximately one and a half hours though they often run a bit longer. Special needs for the
dog can be taught during the training sessions. The first two lessons are taught at your home to give
the trainer a better overall picture of the circumstances. The remaining lessons will be taught at
the training facility or at other locations as the needs dictate.
cost: $30 per lesson ... minimum of 4 lessons
Boarding for Training
If you are going on a lengthy vacation and would like to return to a well
trained pet, or feel overwhelmed with teaching the dog while learning to handle it, Boarding for
Training may be the option for you. The dog would board in our boarding facility with the standard
"playtime" being used for training. A minimum of 4 weeks is usually required for best results.
Since our training your dog does not help your relationship with the dog - it may still be just as
incorrigible with you - we require your participation in the training. During the time the dog is
boarded for training, the owner is required to come out once a week for private lessons if the dog
is boarded for training while you are out of town, private lessons or class enrollment must immediately
follow the time of boarding. In this way, the dog will already know what is expected when it hears a
command and you will be able to learn how to make it do them.
cost: $20 per day ... minimum stay is 2 weeks
private lessons or class enrollment included at no extra charge
Training for Titles...Boarding dog for the purpose of training to an obedience title
is $500-$600 depending on dog's level of training and temperament. If the owner wants
the dog shown, they will be charged the entry fees plus a $30 per show handling fee.
Carting and Sledding
It is always fun to have a “trick dog” it is even better if they trick is
useful around the house. Teaching your dog to pull wagons, carts and/or sleds is not only fun for
you and the dog but also quite a handy “trick” for the dog to know! In this course, you will learn
how to teach the basic commands used in carting and sledding – “Hike” or Go, “Whoa” or Stop, “Gee” or
right turn, “Haw” or left turn, as well as stay, back up and about turns. Dogs of all ages can learn
these commands but in order to actually pull any weight they should be at least a year old and in good
physical condition.
