Walker earns UKC Show Champion Title; Other great news.
On Saturday, May 4, 2002, at the United Kennel Club shows hosted by the Michigan American Pit Bull Terrier Club at the Wayne County Fairgrounds located in Belleville, Michigan, SL’s Moonwalker completed his UKC Show Champion title! There were two shows and both Walker and Juliet won Best of Breed in a show. We had a picture of them taken together and will post it to our website if it turns out! As there weren't enough breeds there from each group to hold group competition, all breeds were combined for a Best in Show competition that totaled 25 breeds in show one and 22 breeds in show two. Only small breeds made the one cut the judge did for Juliet's show, so she wasn’t even looked at by the same judge that gave her Best of Breed. In Walker's show, he made the two cuts (there were seven breeds remaining, only Walker and the Doberman from his group), but ultimately the pit bull was chosen for Best in Show and the toy fox terrier was given reserve by Judge Gerald Smith. Judge Herbert Rosen gave Walker Best of Breed earlier in this show.
Now with the completion of both Walker and Juliet’s UKC Show Champion titles, look for both Walker and Juliet primarily in the AKC and CKC rings over the course of the summer and fall!

Juliet goes Best of Breed at the UKC Winter Classic.
Juliet went Best of Breed at the UKC Winter Classic on February 16, 2002, following a win in the Champions of Champions class. She made the cut and was placed 5th in a very large Guardian Group. We were quite taken aback by the complete lack of crowd support for her performance in group, the only breed out of dozens to silence the crowd. Maybe it was due to the fact that she was by far the smallest dog in the group or possibly that she was a Rottweiler. We were quite surprised that the judge seemed uninfluenced by this obvious discrepancy, placing Juliet were she had. This was yet another bad and disappointing experience for us in the UKC ring, ranging from poor and inappropriate judging to terrible event management. Although, we are not giving up on this organization just yet. Walker took Best of Winners in his very first UKC show and will hopefully finish quickly. It is our hope that a nice male Rottweiler will garnish more respect from other participants and spectators in the
UKC.
January 18, 2002
